|ten| Grad Mag 08
Posted in Design on September 19, 2008 by cxytrixieI contributed to the school (yay) by designing several pages of the grad mag. This time not for my class or cca or whatsoever, but for the general pages. The process was quite tedious- being bombarded with picture files, mail attachments and specific requirements and so on. So here are the snapshots of the page designs.
The first 3 are designed for the ‘Our Footprints’ section. I had an overload of pictures (huge files!) from emails and had to selectively choose the best ones out for Sec 1 and 2 lifeskills camp. I add to ask others for pics for sec 3 programmes and sec 4 was the most tedious- I searched through blogs for pictures… the sad thing was I had no access to the official photographers’ pictures. Notice the trend that as our batch gets older, there are more pictures and it appears more cluttered. In the printed grad mag, some photos were changed and deleted due to overcrowding.
The second three are for the ‘Our Destinations’ section. Sadly speaking, they were not used. No idea why, but I guess that the template of the torn scrapbook paper is quite repetitive.

Posted in Design on June 7, 2008 by cxytrixieThis card was designed for a fellow sec 4 team doing a “Youth for Causes” charity project names Saven 08. The theme was apples, so I decided to recycle my watercolour painting. The card designs will be sold for charity.
I searched an online dictionary for the meaning of apple and I thought I should write down the meaning of “apple of one’s eye”. After all, it is a community outreach project.
So here’s the final card design:
|five| hfos costume design
Posted in Design on May 29, 2008 by cxytrixieThis is a costume I designed for the dance “masure“.
It is entirely black with gold trimmings – a button-up blouse with a chinese embroidered motif and long black pants (which are the Culture in Motion pants). However this design was scraped as the culture in motion dancers did not have time to change, and will wear the culture in motion chinese costume instead. It was a good experience to help out our tailor in measurements, and participating in meetings on costume alterations, materials and costs.
|four| A Hatful Of Stars II Program Booklet
Posted in Design on April 28, 2008 by cxytrixieThanks to the Modern Dance society, I’ve got a chance to design the prog. booklet of our latest production – A Hatful of Stars II !!!!
So I made use of the theme song “A hatful of stars” by Cyndi Lauper for some inspiration, and not forgetting the reference to the prog. bklet for our first Hatful of Stars show.
” you should’ve seen the magic … in my hat full of stars..”
Here are the pictures of the front, interior and back cover.
The product may look simple, but this project made me realise the painstaking effort needed to be put in to realise a design. I sacrificed many hours of sleep to edit the text, the layout, the resolution and especially the size. It was pretty rushed due to time constraints and I spent the most time on readjusting the paper size and making sure no text will be cut off upon printing.
The cover design reflects the theme “a hatful of stars” clearly. The top hat and the stream of stars are the key elements behind the design. The pictures on the front and back are all taken by the aesthetic comm. (not taken from the net =D)
i’m so happy the design is realised!
Thanks v. much to Elite Creative for the printing and for the advice given to me — it taught me much about designing with photoshop =)

|three| Aesthetics Dept. Logo
Posted in Design on April 28, 2008 by cxytrixieTo help the aesthetics department in ny come up with a dept. logo, all of us had to come up with a design.
Here’s the one i conceptualized — a chinese ink stamp with music score, dancer, and paint splatters. The logo “美育” is kind of unreadable but that’s perhaps how the two ancient chinese characters are written.
